Quick Reminder on Ticket To Work

Ticket to Work is an employment program for people with disabilities that are interested in working. Any recipient of SSI or SSDI is eligible to participate in this program. The beneficiary assigns their ticket to the Employment Network (EN) of their choosing and the EN will provide services to help the beneficiary obtain and maintain gainful employment. If a beneficiary decides to participate in this program, they are protected from medical continuing disability reviews (CDR).

Participating in the Ticket to Work program is free to SSI/SSDI beneficiaries. The services provided by an EN can include: help with applications or resume building, help with how and where to look for employment, interview training, and other specific individual needs.

SSA finalizes changes to Ticket to Work program

The Social Security Administration is revising its regulations governing "The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program," which encourages Social Security disability beneficiaries to return to work. "These rules outline a new and improved Ticket to Work program and are based on learning from our experiences, listening to input from interested parties, and responding to their suggestions," said Michael J. Astrue, Commissioner of Social Security. "Beneficiaries with disabilities will have greater flexibility and expanded choices in obtaining the services they need to attain their employment goals". Essentially, the changes add an educational and technical training option to supplement the work requirement for Ticket to Work eligibility, and would tighten up the progress requirements for continued participation in the program. The final regulations are effective July 21, 2008.
Details of the changes appear in the SSA's notice of proposed rulemaking and are published in the May 20, 2008, Federal Register (73 Fed. Reg. 29324).

New Ticket To Work Regulations!!!

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is pleased to announce exciting improvements to the Ticket to Work Program. These changes were published in the Federal Register on May 20, 2008 and will go in to effect on July 21, 2008. Check out the new regulations at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/pdf/E8-10879.pd

The new Ticket regs should greatly increase the number of EN's over time...and access to EN's for ticket-holders.

I'm Off - to the Partner's Summit

It's now 8:15 am and I'm getting a few loose ends tied up before catching a plane to the Ticket to Work Partners' Summit in Louisville, KY. I will be joining over 400 SSA partners' from across the nation who are engaged in work with Social Security disability beneficiaries through the Ticket to Work Program.

This Summit is to act as the launching pad for the new Ticket to Work regulations and the new "face" of Ticket to Work.

I'm excited to be participating in this event and eager to attend as many break out sessions as possible during my 3 day stay. I intend to blog every evening about the day's events and knowledge I gained through the various sessions.
